Siri's of California is owned and operated by Carl and Siri Hughes. The name "Siri" came from my mother's favorite flower spelled backwards - Iris. I often wondered if she had too much time on her hands!
My husband, who thought he was retired, and I work together to continually build our inventory and to keep up with our customer's needs and requests. We hope we will be adding your name next to our growing customer base.
How I Started - I am a fashion designer first, a retailer second, and now a quilter when time permits. My grandmother started showing me how to make doll clothes when I was five years old. By the time I was 10, my parents bought me my own sewing machine and I started making my own clothes. By the time I was 15, I was designing and sewing professionally. I have been creating couture, bridal, and eveningwear for more than 40 years.
When we began square dancing in 1991, we became very involved in creating matching men's and women's outfits for individuals and clubs. After moving from the Los Angeles area to the Central Sierra Foothill community of Lake Don Pedro in 1999, we became involved with many quilters. I was talked into attending my first class and that was all it took to get hooked. It was very quickly suggested that we start carrying all the necessary supplies for quilters. We were delighted to be needed and the quilting world has been a continual learning experience that we are thoroughly enjoying.
We hope you enjoy our store and please don't hesitate to e-mail us with your suggestions and advice. We look forward to hearing from you.
